Origami is the world famous Japanese art of paper folding, the goal of which is to create an object, animal, etc, using geometric folds and creases, without using glue or scissors.
The word origami is derived from ori (meaning fold) and gami (meaning paper) and is a very ancient craft which was carried to Japan , from China , in the 6th century, by Buddhist monks.
In the Edo period (1603 - 1867) origami developed into the exquisite art form, which in recent years has become internationally famous.
This is a skill which can be taught from the age of 4 years.
